– Gaise Baba On Partnership With Secular Artists – Reveals Why

Nigerian AfroGospel artiste Gaise Baba has revealed some of the secular music artistes he would love to collaborate with, explaining why he is open to working across the perceived divide between gospel and mainstream music.

The singer, whose real name is Akinade Ibuoye, made the revelation while discussing his music, creativity and approach to reaching a wider audience.

According to the artiste, collaborating with secular musicians does not necessarily mean compromising his Christian convictions.

Rather, he sees music as an avenue for communication and cultural engagement.

For Gaise Baba, the focus is not simply on attaching his name to popular artistes but on creating music that can communicate meaningful messages while maintaining artistic excellence.

In recent years, the boundaries between genres have become increasingly fluid, with artistes drawing inspiration from Afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B, highlife and other sounds regardless of whether they are traditionally classified as gospel or secular.

Gaise Baba himself has become one of the notable figures in Nigeria’s AfroGospel movement.

His song “No Turning Back II,” featuring Lawrence Oyor, became a major mainstream success and was named Nigeria’s most-watched music video on YouTube in 2025, recording more than 41 million views within six months.

The achievement saw the gospel song outperform releases from several of Nigeria’s biggest mainstream artistes.
