Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the Lord had visited his people in giving them bread.” – Ruth 1:6
I was at WAFBEC Holy Ghost service this past Friday at the Covenant Christian Centre, Iganmu, Lagos. It was such an awesome experience and I am still surrounded by the residue of the Glory of God that manifested at the program.
You can literally feel the cloud of God’s glory move in and the whole atmosphere changed as we stood there trying to catch God.
I have been reading this book God Chaser by Tommy Tenney and right there what Tommy has been saying about ‘no bread in the house of bread’ hit me.
You see, we campaign, plan a well organised program and go through the whole ceremony of church services, on top of that is the process of trying to invite someone to church and praying that they will like the mode of our church service so that they can keep coming to church. But when the Spirit of God is manifested… when a group of people in a gathering almost catch God, His manifest presence is all that is needed to slay them, convince them and keep them coming back to the house of bread.
Nobody had to tell Naomi in Ruth 1:6 to return back to Bethlehemjudah, she heard from Moab where she was that the Lord had visited Bethlehemjudah giving them bread. In comparison, Jesus told the people who sought Him after he fed the 5000 “you seek Me, not because you ate of the loaves and were filled.'” The problem is that the bread which they ate will perish and then they will want more but Jesus remains forever — till eternity. Atleast, He came to the earth over 2000 years ago but we are still receiving His salvation today.
If our churches, leaders and the followers spend more time catching God, we will do less work trying to up our game or converting souls. Souls will hear of His manifested Glory from afar and will know in their heart they need to get right with God.
Significantly, Naomi returned back to Bethlehemjudah which in Hebrew means House of Bread. As Nigeria moves towards election in the midst of varrying attacks from insurgents, the churches are in dire need of catching God because force or gimmicks will not work, only the manifest presence of God can bring the change we want. It time to get the bread back into the house of bread — the Church!
