Whenever, though, they turn to face God as Moses did, God removes the veil and there they are—face-to-face! They suddenly recognize that God is a living, personal presence, not a piece of chiseled stone. And when God is personally present, a living Spirit, that old, constricting legislation is recognized as obsolete. We’re free of it! All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him” – 2 Corinthians 3: 16 – 18

I spent most of my 20s wondering where God was.  A very popular kid amongst his peers in my teenage years suddenly  became almost forgotten in my 20s.

Most times,  I was like a rat trapped in a bowl with nothing to hang unto in order to pull myself up.  There were times when there will be a beamer and for a while I would think, that is it, I’m coming out of the situation only to hit the rock bottom again — till I dedicated my life back to Christ.

I remember on my 30th birthday,  I was in my former boss’ car and she asked if I was enjoying my birthday because I was at work, and for the first time in a very long time,  I was almost where I wanted to be.  It was a different birthday and that only came after a whole decade has passed.

For the first time I was certain where God was,  where I was  and more importantly,  I knew what the future held.  It was a wonderful feeling!

I read this morning from the devotional — “Our Daily Bread” about the Glass Beach in Fort Bragg California. It’s the most amazing thing ever,  how God used a messed up Beach to create a beauty.

“Early 20th-century residents of Fort Bragg, California, disposed of their trash by throwing it over a cliff and onto a nearby beach. Cans, bottles, tableware, and household garbage accumulated in huge, disgusting piles. Even when residents stopped depositing trash on the beach, it remained an embarrassment—a dump seemingly beyond reclamation.

Over the years, however, wave action broke up the glass and pottery and washed the rubbish out to sea. The pounding surf rolled and tumbled the glass fragments in the sand on the ocean floor, frosting and smoothing the surface and creating gemlike “sea glass,” which it then deposited back onto the beach. The surf created a kaleidoscopic beauty at which visitors to Glass Beach now stare in wonder.”

In the same way,  God used all the messed I went through in my twenties  to draw my attention to Him.  He gave me a great faith, trust and love for Him. He can do the same for you too.  I look back at those days and I don’t feel those pain anymore,  instead I always thank God for taking thought of me enough to use such a lengthy period to shape me.  You are on God’s agenda
