SELAH STORY: AIMLESS PURSUIT

In a Southern countryside, a old farmer lived with his old dog. They live in a farm house not far from a highway that led to the city.

The farmer loved to come out to the road when he wasn’t busy with the farm and so also, the dog. As a matter of fact, the dog was always standing by the road side waiting for vehicles to come around. As soon as one came he would run down the road, barking and trying to overtake it.

Every one knew this dog’s habit and some found it fun. Some loved to drive along the farmers road just so the dog can chase their car while others just loved to watch him but most of the road users where travellers so the dog often have to wait hours before a car finally passed by.

One day a neighbor, who had been watching the dog’s action asked the farmer:

“Do you think your dog is ever going to catch a car?”

The farmer replied, “That is not what bothers me. What bothers me is what he would do if he ever caught one.”

Many people in life behave like that dog who is pursuing meaningless goals. You should stop and ask yourself why you are doing what you do?

Life is hard by the yard,
but by the inch,
it’s a cinch.
