“Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, Please open his eyes, that he may see. The Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire around Elisha.”
– 2 Kings 6:17
Portraits are graphical representation of a thing, it’s not the real thing. Portraits are meant to be displayed.
Often times the devil paints ugly portraits and display them like an exhibition to make a person who beholds the image miserable.
Before we go on, let me also posit that the bible says we look not unto the things which are seen (by the physical eyes nor images being painted by the enemy), therefore, you have to believe the images the word of God paints for you than you believe the ugly situation, the bad dream, the depressing doctor’s report and so on.
Just like the devil paints ugly portraits, God’s word paints beautiful portraits. Those portraits painted by God’s word is the real thing, little wonder God’s word is described as the truth. It’s the truth, the real thing.
The devil uses ugly portraits to cloud our judgment, it always appears like a mirage so much that even people around you begin to advice you to carefully consider the situation. This is exactly what the servant of Elisha did in the verse before us today.
He woke up in the morning and the devil painted a ugly situation before him. He didn’t expect it. He was going to wake up and go about his business but the devil had another thing coming. On seeing the army, the servant got scared, he altered whatever it was he was supposed to do and feasted on the portrait before him.
This is how we react to the portrait the devil paints. We feast on it, we confess it till our judgment is clouded and we begin to throw the devil a party in our lives.
Thank God for Elisha who prayed that God should open the eyes of the servant and made him see the host of army that was with them. Elisha did not need an eye opener to know that there was an army with him but to help make the servant strong, he prayed that his eyes be opened to the army guarding them.
Brothers and sisters, I will like you to know that the same God of Elisha is the one you serve and an army encamps around you always, just like Elisha, because His words say so. No matter what the ugly portrait is, that the devil his painting, no matter how real it looks, it is fake, the real thing is embedded in God’s word, believe it than you believe that doctor’s report, that letter of retrenchment, that rebellious child because God will touch it all!
Unlike the devil, God does not paint portraits and scenery He will not enact for real! The devil is the author of confusion but if God is painting you a portrait, then expect a masterpiece! Hallelujah!
