IF YOU DINED WITH SINNERS, WHY DO WE SLAY IN YOUR NAME?
Selah: Good morning Jesus, Good morning Lord. Dear Jesus, every time I get a chance to sit at this table with you and spend some time before heading to church, questions come rushing to my head and I just wanna go all out and ask everything at once. I know there are some things I’m curious about that I may not get to know till I get to heaven… Listen to that – “till I get to heaven” (laughs) – less than 2 years ago, I was not sure if I was going to heaven but you showed me such patience and watch me as I struggled to stand on my 2 feet on the solid ground.
It is appalling! (Permit me to use the word Sir) Dear Jesus, if you can have such patience with me while I struggled to make it out of deep waters for good nine years ([coughs] those are the years I counted, I know it’s more than that), why is it that pastors, christian brothers and sisters and those who hold “big” titles in Your name preach so much condemnation and Judgment?
Last week, I saw a brother smoking, he was obviously trying to burn out his worries because he mumbled incoherent words. I could have condemned him if I was all by myself but Your Spirit told me to tell him how much You love him. He was so overwhelmed by this, so much that he poured his heart out to me. Dear Jesus, I don’t get it, if you dined with sinners and tax collectors, why are we slaying sinners in your name?
I know nothing else but your love enraptured me and changed me so I have decided to express this love to others more than I point out their weaknesses, I don’t know if this is the right thing but I can’t keep what I have experienced to myself. I guess that’s the basis of my ministry.
Jesus: Dear Selah, you’ve forgotten I knew you before you were formed and while you hold your views due to what I took you through, you cannot be the judge of how My Name should be preached. Remember, the eyes see while the ears hear but all are members of the body, if one should refuse to play its part, the body will be in jeopardy. So play your part and let others play theirs. You cannot be the judge of the “judges.”
Haven said that, let love and not self gratification or glorification be the basis of why you do what you do. If you love Me, you will strive to feed my sheep, (I am talking to you and other members of the church now).
Remember how I prayed “Father forgive them, they know not what they are doing,” if you have found the grace to sincerely say this prayer for those who hurt you, then leave the approach to Me, just go on and fulfill your ministry!
Selah! (Sips coffee quietly while meditating)
PS: This is purely imaginative and should be approached in the manner, nevertheless, it provides some basic guide to christian living and attitude. Thank you for reading. God bless!
