“Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will show thee.”
– Genesis 12:1
If you trace the chronology of Abraham, you will find out that when God called him out of the house of Terah, his father, Abraham or rather Abram was more or less like you and I, if not even worse. He was from Ur a land in Chaldees. The Chaldeans according to history are the older age Babylonians which means Abram did not even know God when He appeared to him.
Abraham (I will love to stick with the later name) however did a very spectacular thing, he trusted a God he was about to know and we all know that God blessed Abraham so much, we are still benefiting from his blessings.
I know there must have been a million questions in the mind of Abraham but he chose to put God before his feelings and came out of his sins (his family worshiped idols). Yes, the future held so much uncertainty but he will rather be uncertain with a God who knows everything than remains with the idols that have never said anything back to him.
Besides, Abraham’s wife was barren, he must have prayed to those idols till he was 75 for a child but he received no answer, Here was God telling him He will make him a great nation. He must have thought “wow, you will really do that for me? Anywhere you want, I will go.”
But God did not tell Abraham where He wanted him to go – more uncertainty – God told him
He will show him. Abraham must have been a young convert like you and I at the time but God guided him till he was fully persuaded.
You could have given your life to Christ as a new convert or even way back but that promise seems to be delaying, God will guide you but can you be like Abraham? don’t quit believing, don’t go back because God is not a man that He should lie.
Most times He uses trials to draw us to Him and it is the same trial that He uses to build and strengthen our faith. The lesson may take a while that your faith though it is being tested with fire may come out as gold so don’t quit being patient and if you have, it’s time to retrace your footstep. Remaining in the place where God’s presence does not reside his more dangerous than whatever it is you think you are passing through, come out from there!
“People are born to be free; it’s a gift from God. The question is, are you willing to go through whatever it takes to be free, or do you want to stay in the mess you’re in for the rest of your life? If you want to be free, the key is to start doing what God wants you to do, one step at a time, and you’ll eventually walk out of your messes.” – Joyce Meyer
