And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.” – Deuteronomy 8:2
Let’s still take one more look at Joseph’s strategic position in the prison which launched him into greatness. We are going to consider how obedience and humility to God set one up for greatness even if it does not initially produces what you expect.
Joseph just escaped the luring temptation of Potiphar’s wife. If Joseph had fallen for the temptation, it would have produced momentary pleasure. Potiphar’s wife would have spoilt him rotten with material and self satisfaction but the end would have been disastrous. Remember Samson?
How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” – Genesis 39:9B
Joseph said, he could not do this and sin against his God. He understood the precepts of God and was determined to walk in it to the point of running away and leaving his garment behind.
Now, Joseph just obeyed God, he should get a pat in the back for a job well done right? No! He was tossed into prison!
At times obedience to God does not mean you will escape the fiery fire like the 3 Hebrew men, it sometimes mean the fire will burn… But the good news is that it is for a while because God is a rewarder of them who are diligent.
He told the children of Isreal in Deuteronomy 8 that he tested them so as to know their intention whether they will abandon His laws but Ha had tested them so that he can bless them in the end.
You may be in a place you do not like at the moment and be wondering why you are there after you have faithfully served God, just like Joseph, it is just the final stop before your elevation. Joseph was strategically positioned by God to go into the prison, you should take on Joseph’s attitude, keep doing what you are doing for God’s glory. God does not owe any man and in the shortest of time, He will lift you up beyond your imagination. You are where He wants you to be.
that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the end” – Deuteronomy 8:16B
Hmmm..the wilderness journey is a must for every child of God,if we must get the glory..may God give us the grace to pass tru it joyfully, becos in the end its to God’s glory!
