Monday the 21st of April 2014 makes it exactly a week since a large number of female Nigerian students in Government School, Chibok, Borno State were abducted by insurgents.
While a sparse number of the female secondary school students have escaped from the terrorist group’s trap, a large number of the girls still remain missing.
During the week, the Government had announced that about 107 of the female students had escape but later withdrew the statement as facts emerged that over 200 girls are still missing.
According to BBC Africa, the parents of 230 girls had reported them missing in the Government Secondary School but 40 had managed to escape. As it is, 190 Nigerian schoolgirls remain missing after being abducted last week, their head teacher told the BBC – far more than the official figure.
The students were about to sit their final year exam and so are aged 16-18.
Before visiting Chibok on Monday, the Borno state governor said that eight more girls had escaped over the weekend, meaning a total 52 had fled. BBC Africa reported. But going by their head teacher, only facts that come from them (the school) holds water.
As this new facts emerged, even SelahAfrik can no longer shy away from reporting this tragic news as we wonder what stringent measures the Federal and state Government are implementing to rescue these girls.
It is scary enough to imagine the torment these girls will likely be made to go through, what’s more scary however is that if definite actions are not put in place, God forbid that the insurgents get away with this.
God help us all – Amen.
LORD JESUS PLS HELP NIGERIA AMEN
