“When the king entered and looked over the scene, he spotted a man who wasn’t properly dressed. He said to him, ‘Friend, how dare you come in here looking like that!’ The man was speechless. Then the king told his servants, ‘Get him out of here—fast. Tie him up and ship him to hell. And make sure he doesn’t get back in.’” – Matthew 22:11-13 (MSG)

There is a saying that you will be addressed the way you are dressed, this statement is so true. Contrary to popular believe, dressing the way you want to be addressed is not the same thing as saying “fake it till you make it.”

Dressing the way you want to be addressed has a parallel to taking a leap of faith.

I have often found out that when I get to the eve of a manifestation of what I am expecting the Lord to do in my life, I begin to act in a certain way other than the way I was used to. This at times, extends to my speech and the way I dress. Most times, it’s almost like I know a miracle is about to show forth in my life.

I have come to understand that what makes me act that way is the substance of faith. One subconsciously starts preparing for what one hopes for. It manifest in physical features but the force that pushes the character is spiritual.

You cannot feature in a future you do not picture and the height of faith is having the substance of what you hope for which cause you to rejoice in the hope of God’s glory.

This my friend is how to dress for the occasion. A saying goes ‘celebrate the things you want to see more in your life’. There are diverse ways one can choose to celebrate and one of the ways is by ‘acting’ what you are celebrating.

The king in Matthew 22:11, did chased the man who wasn’t dressed for the occasion out because his unpreparedness made him speechless. Yes, he got into the wedding alright but he had no idea how to act or even what to do. He was not ready. Dressing for the occasion is like rehearsal. It prepares you for the real thing!
