But when the king came in to look over the dinner guests, he saw a man there who was not dressed in wedding clothes” – Matthew 22:11

Jesus most of the time likened the kingdom of God to a wedding and this is appropriate because it’s how God wants to prepare us for the new kingdom. God wants to reinstate us to His original plan and the original plan includes adorning us like a bride and royalty.

God’s grace extended salvation to us who were aliens. He brought us out of darkness and into the light. He brought us out unworthy and qualified us who were unqualified.

But God does not intend for us to remain unworthy. He wants us to come as we are but He does not want us to remain that way.

The man who wasn’t dressed for the occasion in Matthew 22:11 was invited to the wedding like everybody else, but like everybody else, you have to decide to want to stay at the wedding seeing that all you need has been provided for including your cloth. How do you do that? Dress for the occasion!

Paul said shall we continue in sin and ask that grace should abound? Just because you have grace does not mean you cannot fall out of grace if you continue in your old ways. Yes, we were unworthy when we got saved but as we carry our cross daily, we who were unworthy, seeking the face of our Lord, are being transformed into his likeness from glory to glory by His spirit.

Jesus is coming back to gather and present us like brides to the groom, are you getting dressed for the occasion?

Say a prayer with me. Dear Lord, thank you for saving me and dying for me while I was yet a sinner. I’m sorry for taking your grace for granted. I receive your spirit of wisdom and understanding to do your will that I make walk fully pleasing you and being fruitful in every good work. Amen.
