I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you?” – Nehemiah 6:3 [NIV]
Another thing that kills dream and bring one down is pride, having a sense of arrival when the journey begins to take shape. I always remind myself that where ever I am right now, another person has surpassed it, either in my work with God or purpose, dreams and achievement, this has always help me keep my character in check.
Nehemiah depicted that too when he said, “why should I come down to you and the work should cease?” We can see clearly that he had the clear picture of the vision in his head and was not willing to be distracted. Yes, the wall was beginning to take shape but like Nehemiah, my advice to you is not to come down before the work is finished.
Those who wanted him to come down to them, I mentioned yesterday were influential people of the society, Nehemiah could have said, ‘Yes, now I am beginning to get the attention of the high and mighty of the society so it must be that I have arrived”, but instead, he was not distracted by the journey so far. There was a picture in his head, he knew it was a great work he was doing but until the picture in his head marches the one he sees, the work is not yet over.
Don’t get puffed up just because there are good signs around your visions and dreams, don’t get distracted and relax because of that fact, there is always one more challenge before the ultimate victory, most of the time, it looks insignificant and are often not anticipated.
The bible advices; “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)
The bible records that those who worked on the wall with Nehemiah did their work with one hand and with the other they held a sword. (Nehemiah 4:7) That is, they were prepared for anything! This is how you should go about your dreams and visions till the day of manifestation.
