Selah's Journal: My 2015 Happy Birthday & The Scars

Hey it’s my birthday today and I have a lot to be thankful for. I am grateful.

Last year was good, the previous year too but I am truly happy today and I don’t have to try to be. That didn’t used to be the case. I always have to force myself to be happy… Sometimes even pray to be, but Jesus came and changed all that…

Years after years, I have questioned myself and God about where all the struggles, heartaches and pain which I have had to deal with was leading to… Or was it even leading anywhere?

When God strive with the spirit of a man, it is for a good purpose and if He wills, God will let you know why, either ways, if you yield to Him, you will be better for it.

God strived with Jacob, He did with Jonah, He did with Peter and also with Paul. All these men became great men who lived for a purpose beyond their reaches.

I realize that every tear, every blow life dealt me brought me here… Where I stand today and I am grateful to God for every of one of them. No! I don’t want to go through any of it again but I am glad I did.

I get the chance to speak to congregations, teens, to impact lives, and also be a backbone to those who impact lives and I get testimonies and feedback but I never fail to see the hand steering the wheel.

Will any of it happen if I did not yield? I can tell you this much, you can’t give what you don’t have. I have my scars and I have Jesus. All I do is show the world, the wounds Jesus healed.

Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner. For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him greater works than these, so that you will marvel.…” – John 5:19-20
