Nigerian gospel singer, Sammie Okposo who died on the 25th of November has been laid to rest at a private cemetery at Ikoyi, after a church service

A tribute night was held for him on Tuesday, December 13 in Lagos State, followed by a service of songs on Wednesday.

Dr Flourish Peters and Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock also ministered at the service.

Okposo who began his music career as a soundtrack producer for Nollywood in 1992 but got his first major big break with his evergreen single “Welu Welu” hit in early 2000s.

Friends, family members and relatives donned white attire to witness the burial of the legendary Sammie Okposo

Sammie Okposo in his lifetime was a force, and he did a lot for the growth of gospel music in Nigeria and beyond. We are not a music award, but we feel the need to honour him in some way. 

This was what inspired us to rename the best soundtrack category after him. His loss will be felt, but all this is just a way to immortalize him,” BON Award founder, Seun Ololetuyi noted.
