The head of the Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV, has sparked widespread conversations following fresh comments about church unity and same-sex marriage.
In a video currently circulating online, the pontiff stressed that the unity of the church should not revolve solely around issues of sexual ethics.
The Pope explained that many people often assume morality within the church is centered only on sexuality, whereas there are other critical issues that deserve equal or greater attention, including justice, equality, freedom, and human dignity.
Despite his remarks, Pope Leo XIV maintained the Catholic Church’s existing position on same-sex marriage, making it clear that the Vatican does not support formalized blessings of same-sex unions beyond reforms previously introduced under Pope Francis.

According to reports, the Pope emphasized that while the church welcomes everyone pastorally, it still upholds its traditional doctrine concerning marriage.
His comments have since generated mixed reactions online, especially among Christians and members of the LGBTQ community.
While some praised the Pope’s call for unity and compassion, others argued that the church must remain firm on biblical teachings regarding sexuality.
The statement also reflects ongoing global conversations within Christianity about inclusion, doctrine, and how churches address same-sex relationships in modern society.
