– Solomon Buchi Fires Yinka Alaseyori Over Remarks On Insecurity
Nigerian social commentator and author Solomon Buchi has publicly criticized gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori following her remarks on the recent abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State and the role of prayer in addressing insecurity in the country.
The controversy began after Alaseyori, during a Facebook Live session, urged Nigerians to pray for the release of abducted victims and maintained that President Bola Tinubu and security agencies were making efforts to combat insecurity.
According to the gospel singer, spiritual factors could sometimes hinder security operations, making prayer a necessary component in the fight against crime and terrorism.

Reacting in a video shared on his Instagram page, Buchi strongly disagreed with the singer’s position, arguing that prayer should not replace responsibility and effective governance.
He questioned the idea of attributing security failures to spiritual forces, insisting that government officials and security agencies must be held accountable for protecting citizens.
“Prayer won’t do what God has already empowered us to do,” Buchi stated, emphasizing that practical action, competent leadership, and institutional accountability are essential in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.

He further criticized what he described as the tendency of some religious figures to spiritualize issues that require concrete governmental solutions.
