The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has introduced robotic-assisted surgery in Nigeria with the acquisition of two advanced surgical robots at its Redeemer’s Health Village (RHV) in Lagos.

The 300-bed multispecialty hospital said one robot will be used for clinical procedures, while the second will support the training of Nigerian surgeons and healthcare professionals.

The robotic surgery programme, launched in partnership with RoboMed Global Inc. of the United States, will initially cover urology, general surgery, gynaecology, colorectal, thoracic and hepatobiliary surgeries.

RHV is also establishing a Robotic Academy to train surgeons, nurses, engineers and other specialists in robotic surgery.

The initiative is expected to improve access to complex surgical procedures in Nigeria, reduce medical tourism and help lower the cost of seeking specialized treatment abroad.

RCCG said the project is part of its broader commitment to advancing healthcare delivery, medical training and research in Nigeria.
