“Being Quiet Is Not Silence” – Pastor Adeboye Reacts To Nigerian Artistes Protest At Redemption Camp

Days after Eedris Abdulkareem, Baba Fryo, Charly Boy and others led some Nigerians in protest to the RCCG Redemption Camp, accusing Pastor E.A Adeboye of being silent on national issues, national insecurities and more, the man of God has finally responded saying the fact that he is quiet, does not mean he is silent on national issues..

Pastor Adeboye made his view known in a statement at the national headquarters of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

He made it clear that he is committed to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), who are mandated to speak on issues affecting the church and the nation.

“The aforementioned Christian bodies had spoken on the issues of kidnapping, killing of Christians, herdsmen attacks and general insecurity in Nigeria and his position and that of the RCCG was not different from their expressed views.

“Adeboye who said that, to be quiet does not mean that you are silent, disclosed that he had made his views on the issues known to all the relevant authorities. He declared that very soon, Nigerians shall see that God answers prayers. He enjoined all to remain calm and maintain the peace.

“The RCCG leader had always called the congregation to prayers against kidnapping, bloodshed and general insecurity at the monthly all-night Holy Ghost Service held at the Redemption Camp.”

Pastor Adeboye led the congregation in supplication for God’s mercy on Nigeria after speaking on the negative consequences of bloodshed and inhumanity.

Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has also reacted to the protest telling the protesters to direct their energy towards the government and not at the man of God.

in a statement by Sanuel Vondip, its National Director, Legal and Public Affairs, CAN said Adeboye “had addressed the press on several occasions explaining that as a man under authority, he cannot speak on issues that CAN or PFN have spoken about”.

He said that any protest against Adeboye, would be viewed by CAN as a systematic insult against church leaders in Nigeria.

“While we appreciate the concern of the protesters over the issues they raised and the call for a better nation, we strongly believe that singling out one of our leaders and members, to say the least is unfair.”
